Areas of Expertise

Engineering professional with 20+ years experience as a project manager. Technical lead for numerous global projects in sustainability, climate change, decarbonization, emissions, life cycle analysis, environmental impact assessment, alternative fuel and technology, air quality and data analysis. Extensive research and analysis capabilities demonstrated through over 50 peer-reviewed publications/ presentations in international conferences on climate change, carbon management and air quality. Developed numerous tools related to climate change, emissions and associated costs.

Air Quality and Health Impact

Developed and presented an innovative method to account for human health impact cost associated with change in emissions at the International Annual Air & Waste Management Conference 2019. Also, involved on several projects on air quality assessment studies at several location across Canada for petrochemical, cement manufacturing, base smelting, fertilizer and carbon black sectors.

Carbon Management and Life Cycle Analysis

Technical lead for numerous global projects in sustainability, climate change, decarbonization, emissions, life cycle analysis, and cost benefit analysis .

Transportation Fuel Emissions and Tools Development

Led the development of many mobile source emissions models in North America on the analysis of transportation fuel, carbon pricing and tools development. Example includes FEIAT for CCME, GVEST for Toronto and CALAFT for Calgary to compare best cost effective alternative fuel and technologies vehicles,; GAPWaterloo for to assess the effectiveness of GHG reduction plans. Provided support to companies on the Renewable Fuel Regulations in Canada and Ontario.

Transportation Sector: On-road Emissions

Several projects involving on- road database development and preparing input files for MOVES, MOBILE6.2 and site-specific emissions modelling. Many projects included emission analysis for North American and Europen vehicles as well as life cycle assessment of transportation fuels (e.g. GREET and GHGenius). Developed several mobile source emission models.

Transportation Sector: Off-road Emissions

Several projects involving stationary engine, off- road database development and preparing input files for NONROAD, MOVES and site-specific emissions modelling. Many projects included emission analysis for stationary, off-road equipment, rail and marine. Developed mobile source off-road emission model for diesel equipment as well as mining operation.

Urban/Regional Air Quality Management

Several projects ranging from project level analysis to regional level air quality assessment and modelling for federal, provincial and municipal clients.

Mining Sector

Emission inventory, new method development, and air quality modelling using CALPUFF and AERMOD for oil-sands, coal and metal mines in Americas and Asia.

Manufacturing Sector

Several projects on emissions inventory development and air quality modelling to support regulatory work.

Waste Management Sector

Wide range of projects including air quality assessment for a waste-to-energy facility in Nova Scotia, GHG emissions from transporting solid waste using different modes (e.g. rail vs. road) and emissions from off-road equipment

Jurisdictional Review and Litigation

Lead or co-author for several international jurisdictional review studies including International review of non-attainment area air quality management tools and techniques, odour management programs, air pollution control technology, and fugitive sources of emissions.

Supported several litigation cases for government agencies (e.g., municipalities, towns, conservation authorities) and industrial clients (e.g., motor manufacturers, pharmaceutical facility, oil refinery, metal manufacturing facility) to support climate change issues, emissions, air quality modelling, ambient air monitoring data, and interpretation of technical data and results.
